Cllr Bruce LaughtonCouncillor Bruce Laughton was first elected to represent the Caunton division on Nottinghamshire County Council in 2001, and since 2017 has represented the Muskham & Farnsfield division. He also represents the Southwell ward on Newark and Sherwood District Council.
Bruce is the Chairman of the Governance & Ethics Committee, and is tasked with ensuring that the Council meets its statutory duties and pushes for the highest standards in daily life. In the past, he has also been a spokesman for Community Safety, Rights of Way, Finance & Property, and Environment & Sustainability. As well as being a Councillor, Bruce is a farmer and businessman whose family have lived in north Nottinghamshire for three generations. Bruce graduated in Agricultural Science at Nottingham University in 1978 and went on to join the armed forces, holding a three-year commission in the Duke of Wellington's Battalion, reaching the rank of Captain. He then went on to teach at two Nottinghamshire comprehensive schools. His business interests include Rufford Park Golf & Country Club in Nottinghamshire and the Grassmoor Golf Centre, Chesterfield.
